About the event

Join professional milliner Mary Jane Baxter for this FREE one-day sewing workshop to create a stunning cloche-style hat. This workshop is suitable for people with basic machine and hand-stitching experience. You can make this hat for either summer or winter. You will need to bring one metre of fabric with you as well as matching thread and fabric-cutting scissors. Sturdy cotton types of fabric; corduroy; lightweight denim or similar would all be suitable for this workshop. Please email for further details if you are unsure.  Mary Jane Baxter taught millinery at Kensington & Chelsea College before working with milliner-to-the-stars Stephen Jones in Covent Garden. Her book, The Modern Girl's Guide to Hatmaking was published in 2013.  Workshop is fully booked, please contact gerogia@gcda.org.uk and ask to be added to the waiting list. If you are unable to attend please email Georgia, thank you.
