For Such A Time As This: Book Club Evening with Shani Akilah

Together, we’ll dive into the stories in For Such a Time as This — a short story collection exploring love, friendship, identity, and belonging across South London (Woolwich), Ghana and Jamaica. Whether you’ve read the whole book or just dipped into a few stories, come along for thoughtful conversation, guided prompts, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

We’re excited that the evening will be led by our very own Mary Jane from GCDA, who will guide the conversation and help spark meaningful discussion.

Expect:

• A short reading from the book

• Group discussion around key themes

• Space to share your reflections and questions

• A chance to meet the author and connect with fellow readers
